How to Bounce Back After Failing the ADC Part 2 Exam
Getting a low score on the ADC part 2 practical exam can be very discouraging. Even after going through heaps of practical lessons and OSCE sessions, if the result is negative, candidates tend to loose their focus and dedication.
We understand how that can put a halt to your preparation and its flow. Which is why, ADCASPIRANTS would like to give you some tips on how to bounce back after getting a failed result in the part 2 exams.
Dr. Henna has counselled over a hundred dentists who lose their faith and confidence after getting a negative result and she is often heard telling them , ” Losing your confidence at this stage can be very debilitating. Consider this failure as a stepping stone in your journey and move on”
Another important thing to remember is to not halt the preparation completely. If you have a home setup , perform one or two tasks weekly to remain consistent. If you wish to practice OSCEs, talk to your patients/family the way as you would be presenting the cases in the ADC part 2 exam.
Additionally, candidates should manage the time that is in hand and apply strategies that maximise their potential. For eg, if a crown preparation takes 1 hour, then candidates should define that time and use techniques to finish that particular task in the given time rather than extending it.
Lastly, many candidates start questioning their own capability and wonder if they are “GOOD ENOUGH” for dentistry in Australia or not. That should never be the case. Please note that most of the times, ADC examination has been mastered by the most credible dentists , with multiple attempts rather than a single attempt.
